We had two big buckets of water to be shared between the volunteers and a couple locals, for washing dishes, taking bucket shower, washing hands and for doing laundry.
Because we had a full house, we often ran out of water before they brought in more, which meant no luxury of taking a bucket shower everyday, even though we were sweating all the time from the hot and humid weather. I was already expecting that, though, so I brought plenty of baby wipes. Also, the bucket showers, when I did get to take one, was actually quite refreshing.
There were two pit toilets we could use right outside of our volunteer house. I am on the opposite end of being a neat freak, so neither the smell nor the toilet itself bothered me too much.
