Havasupai Indian Reservation
I am lucky to have had the chance to visit this magical place twice.
General Info
- Reservations made online at https://www.havasupaireservations.com/
- Usually, reservations for the whole year open on February 1st and they get sold out very quickly
- There is a cancellation/transfer page that have reservations pop up from time to time
First Visit – May Memorial Day Long Weekend in 2018
- 3 days 2 nights with 6 other first-timers
- All 7 of us brought hammocks to sleep in, I also brought a tent for storing bags and to get changed in
- Pros of going in May:
- Perfect weather. Not overly too warm yet, but warm enough to swim in the water comfortably. Also allows for a lighter backpack since it is warm.
Second Visit – February President’s Day Long Weekend in 2020
- 4 days 3 nights with 4 first-timers
- We all brought tents to sleep in, but I also brought a hammock and slept in it for 2 nights. Surprisingly, hammock with rainfly was warmer than the tent.
- Pros of going in February
- Less people – more campsites to choose from, no line going down Mooney, & often have the falls to ourselves
- It got cold at night, but because of this they temporarily allowed campfires (they don’t always do this though)
- Less bugs due to the cold weather.
