Via de la Plata

Camino de Santiago pilgrim walk

Trip Info

  • Walked the last ~100km of the Via de la Plata
  • April 16 – 20, 2019
  • Ourense -> Santiago de Compostela
  • Started walking from Ourense on April 16, and got to the final destination on Holy Saturday on April 20
  • This was an impulsive trip planned with less than a month to go, after I got laid off from my job
  • I purposely planned it so that I can attend the Easter mass in Santiago de Compostela

Random Bits

  • Started having pain on the right knee on Day 3 – picked up a tree branch to use as a walking stick.
  • Because of the knee pain, it took me 12 hours to get to Outeiro on Day 4.
  • The French way and the Portuguese way are the two most popular routes of the Camino de Santiago, but I purposely picked a less popular route.
The Compostela you get when you walk at least 100 km, and my pilgrim passport with the stamps.
